Hey everyone! I am back with a delicious but yet nutritions smoothie that everyone in the family can enjoy! It is super silky, and rich and is traditionally consumed with Rum.  I thought I would omit the alcohol, and see how yummy I could make this Tropical drink!

It did not take long for me to realize that this drink was going to be simple, awesome, and packed with nutrients.  I know all of you you love Pina Coladas, so you really have no excuse not to give this a go! Before we get to the recipe I am just going to tell you all a bit about the two main ingredients in this smoothie.  Pineapple, and Coconut!

Pineapples are:

  • anti-inflammatory
  • help prevent colds
  • help prevent free radical damage
  • helps strong bones
  • helps reduce swelling
  • promotes strong immunity
  • boosts metabolism
  • aids in a healthy digestive system

Coconuts are:

  • a great source of fibre
  • high in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids
  • packed with calcium, potassium, and magnesium
  • helps stay hydrated as they have loads of electrolytes
  • healthy fat
  • better than milk – my opinion

So not only does this bad boy taste amazing, it is SUPER GOOD FOR YOU – as mentioned before.

  • it takes less than 5 minutes to make
  • fuss free and minimal mess in the kitchen
  • requires a blender and a glass
  • easily taken on-the-go 
  • and your kids are sure to LOVE IT!

It is also:

  • nut free 
  • sugar free
  • dairy free
  • and vegan!

You cannot go wrong.

It is the perfect time of year to kick start on drinks like these! Perfect for breakfast, mid day snack or post gym pick-me-up…just add Protein – Andrew used Protein World and I used Protein World Flaxseed in mine to amp it up sometimes!

Pina Colada Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple (you could use frozen)
  • 1 cup coconut yogurt yogurt
  • 2 tbsp coconut cream
  • 1 tbsp coconut nectar
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tsp of fresh lime juice

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and puree on high for 30 to 60 seconds – mine looks different because I blended the pineapple on its own, then the rest of their ingredients on their own to create a layered effect.
  2. Pour into a glass, garnish with a wedge of pineapple or mint and serve up ASAP.
