Good lord! This recipe is so dang delicious. I mean, I say that about all food, but I’m serious. Can you really go wrong with anything that has pasta and garlic in it? I think not! This Spaghetti with Oil and Garlic will knock your socks off. Plus, it takes under 30-minutes to make so you won’t be spending all night in the kitchen whipping up a meal your whole family will love.

Spaghetti with Oil and Garlic

Why you’ll love this Spaghetti with Oil and Garlic:

  • Garlic… do I need to say more?
  • It can be made in under 30-minutes
  • It’s budget-friendly
  • It can be made with ingredients you likely already have in your pantry
  • The whole family will love it (I promise)

Spaghetti with Oil and Garlic

How do you make Spaghetti with Oil and Garlic?

Well, I’m so happy you asked, it’s actually quite simple. As I said, you won’t be spending all night in the kitchen to whip this one up. All you’ll need is eight simple ingredients you probably already have. Don’t you love when you don’t need to go shopping? These superstar ingredients are:

  • Olive oil
  • Garlic
  • Vegan parm
  • Chili flakes
  • Pasta
  • Salt & pepper
  • Fresh parsley (and/or thyme)

Now for the easy steps. First off, boil your water to cook the pasta. Once your pasta is cooked, reserve some of the pasta water and set your cooked noodles aside. From here, in a medium pan add your olive oil and heat it up before adding all your yummy garlic. Cook the garlic down, stirring often, and once it’s gold and fragrant, add your parm. Dust your chili flakes as desired (I like it spicy) and add your cooked pasta into the pan.

Last but not least, add your reserved water and some salt, pepper, and fresh herbs. Cook until everything is hot and just like that, you’re ready to serve this creamy pasta up with a glass of vino.

Why is garlic so damn good for you?

A lot of people don’t realize how good garlic is for you. It is actually packed with health benefits! Here are just some of the reasons we should consume it:

  • It’s a blood purifier
  • Can help fight off (and relieve symptoms) of the common cold & flu
  • Helps prevent heart disease
  • Contains anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic qualities
  • Several studies have shown it can help prevent cancer
  • It is great for your skin & hair

It also has a lot of weird uses. For example, it can apparently help with athletes foot, you can rub it on acne to help remove bacteria, can soothe psoriasis, a slice of it can help you remove a splinter, and it can even help fight off mosquitoes in the summertime. Weird right?

This really easy recipe can be made up in under 30 minutes with less than 10 ingredients. Your whole family will love it!

3 tbsp. olive oil

4 large garlic cloves

1/2 cup vegan parmesan cheese

1/4 tsp chili flakes

100 g uncooked pasta

pinch sea salt

1/2 tsp fresh black pepper

a handful of fresh thyme or parsley, finely chopped

Bring a large pot of water to a boil and generously season with salt.

Cook spaghetti till al-dente and set aside once cooked.  Reserve 1/4 cup pasta water.

To a medium-sized pan or cast-iron skillet add your olive oil and heat on medium for 30 seconds before adding the garlic.

Cook down the garlic for 5-6 minutes, stirring often to avoid burning. Once golden and fragrant, add the parmesan cheese – evenly over the entire pan – and cook down for 1-2 minutes.  Dust with chili flakes (as desired) and add your pasta to the pan.

Add reserve pasta water, a tiny pinch of sea salt, black pepper and fresh thyme or parsley. Cook, coat and toss till hot throughout.

Enjoy hot with a glass of wine and warm, crispy garlic toast.

Could I use nutritional yeast instead of vegan parmesan cheese?
I suppose I’d get a different consistency and a slightly different taste but still garlicky #Imnewtothis

Maria Koutsogiannis

That should work fine!!!
