This easy tomatillo salsa will take only 5-minutes to prep and it's delicious on tortilla soup, tacos, or nachos!

Tomatillo’s are a Mexican husk tomato that are green in colors. They are a bit more acidic than typical tomatoes and slightly less sweet. Overall, the flavor is bright and the texture is less watery too. These make for a fantastic key ingredient to a beautiful green tomatillo salsa.

Ingredient Notes:

Tomatillo: A less watery, more dense, green tomato that is often found in Mexican cuisine.

Jalapeno: If you like less spicy food, you can remove the seeds of the jalapeno. Leave them in if you want more spice! If you don’t like spice at all, you can omit this completely or put less in.

How to make tomatillo salsa:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Pulse / blend the ingredients on a low speed to ensure the salsa stays somewhat chunky and scoopable (instead of soupy).
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt and lime if desired.

Ingredients
  

  • 28 oz can of whole tomatillos
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (seeds removed if you prefer a less spicy salsa)
  • 1/2 large white onion, roughly chopped
  • juice of half a lime
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions
