This creamy french onion dip takes the beautiful sweetness of the caramelized onion and turns it into a delicious, creamy dip that is perfect for your next potluck or gathering. This dip is quick, and easy, and can easily be served with your favorite crackers, or veggies. It uses real, pure ingredients vs. that powdered french onion seasoning you get at the store and you can taste the difference in the quality of ingredients it has in it.

Ingredient Notes:

Avocado Oil: For this recipe, I used Chosen Foods 100% Pure Avocado Oil to caramelize the onions. Their avocado oil contains good fats from avocados and it has a neutral flavor so it doesn’t overpower the onion. It’s also fantastic for high-heat cooking and is a healthy swap for most recipes that call for oil.

Greek Yogurt: In this french onion dip I used Greek yogurt to help with the creaminess. Greek yogurt is such a healthy alternative to using sour cream or mayo in recipes. It also adds an extra protein boost.

How to make french onion dip:

  1. Slice onions very thinly (this can also be done on a mandolin if you desire).
  2. Heat a medium-sized pot or high-sided skillet over medium heat. Add the avocado oil and once warm turn to medium-low and add the onions, sprinkle with salt and sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally until the onions are caramelized and golden, this can take about 30 minutes.
  3. Pre heat the oven to 375F. To make the crispy baguette, using a bread knife, slice the baguette into 1-inch thick slices. Brush the baguette slices with olive oil on one side and place in a single layer on a baking sheet. Toast for 10 minutes total, flipping halfway through. Set aside.
  4. Transfer caramelized onions to a cutting board and chop coarsely into smaller pieces.
  5. Stir together softened goat cheese and yogurt. Mix in chopped caramelized onions, fresh chives, garlic powder, salt, pepper and worcestershire sauce.
  6. Serve with toasted baguette!

5 stars is not enough! There’s only one bad part about this recipe…I didn’t double it! Easiest thing in the world and so much healthier than store bought dip! 😋
