Description
Easy, Mediterranean-inspired gyro fries that will impress everyone at your girls night or party. Made with jackfruit vs. meat, and full of flavor.
Ingredients
2– 400ml cans of jackfruit, shredded and remove the firm stems
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. onion powder
1 tbsp. oregano
1 tsp. smoked paprika
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. cracked pepper
½ tsp. chili flakes
Juice of 2 lemons
750g premade OR homemade fries
2 tbsp. steak seasoning
2 tbsp. oregano
2 cups romaine lettuce, shredded
2 small tomatoes, diced
1 small red onion, diced
¼ long English cucumber, cubed
1/3 cup Kalamata olives, sliced
1/3 cup feta cheese
3 tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
3 tbsp. fresh cilantro, chopped
3 tbsp. fresh oregano, chopped
Serving of Tzatziki
Instructions
Add the jackfruit, olive oil, lemon juice, and ALL of the spices to a large pot.
Cook the jackfruit over medium-high heat for 30 – 45 minutes until tender and flavour absorbs.
As you cook the jackfruit, stir every few minutes and add splashes of water to allow to tenderize properly. You want the consistency to be like pulled chicken.
When the jackfruit is almost done cooking, prepare your homemade OR premade fries and all of the other ingredients.
Once the fries are hot and ready, combine the steak seasoning and oregano.
Toss the fried in the seasoning and then transfer to a large serving dish.
Add and stack ALL of the other prepared fry toppings along with the jackfruit.
Serve immediately with FRESH TZATZIKI! You will be SPEECHLESS!
Notes
Replace the feta with your favourite dairy-free option! Even make your homemade tzatziki with vegan substitutes!
Add prepared OR homemade hummus overtop of these decadent fries.
HUGE HIT with anyone and everyone, and ANYWHERE! Dig in!
Store these fries in the fridge for 2 – 3 days. Honestly though, these are BEST served fresh!
